Episode 40 - Know Thyself and Thy Garlic Breath

Know Thyself

-Greek Maxim

Expanded on by Socrates: The unexamined life is not worth living.

How do you get started in your quest to know yourself?

Maxwell mostly talks about awareness in terms of your occupation.

Pay attention to your passion. Do you like what you’re doing now? If not, what do you want? You will never find your destiny doing work you despise. There’s no energy or passion to be found there. How can you get where you want to go?

Albert Einstein once said “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” Looking at what you’re curious about can help you find your passion.

But what if, like me, you already found your passion? Knowing yourself is still important. You can continue to improve yourself and reach for greater successes. Other ways to know yourself:

Ask yourself questions!

Chinese proverb: “He who asks a question remains a fool for five minutes. He who does not ask remains a fool forever.” Not just for the outward. Asking yourself questions is the best way to get at the heart of your own motivation and thought processes

Possess a teachable spirit. Be open to learning, both about yourself and the world in general

Personality tests like Enneagram and Myers-Briggs. Not always 100% accurate but they can help you see your tendencies and preferences you might not be aware of.

At a genetic level everyone does better with different foods, so even knowing what diet you thrive on can be beneficial. For example, garlic is really good for you for a lot of reasons (and not just keeping vampires away), but it can cause brain fog and impair thinking. I’ve actually noticed that myself before.  So you when you celebrate Garlic Day tomorrow on April 19th, eat responsibly.

Tomorrow, April 19th is Garlic Day, so I’m sure everyone is geared up to celebrate. Maybe we should try making garlic coffee! Garlic has a ton of health benefits, but it can also cause brain fog, so I recommend moderation unless you’re not feeling well, then eat a ton of garlic and get some rest!
