Episode 19 Six Spice Moroccan Coffee

Episode 19?! You read that right, we're going back to Morocco, which seems to be an abundant land of coffee recipes. There were at least three more recipes we found but didn't get to try this time around, including the one with delicious sounding orange blossom water. I've really enjoyed our around the world series. I'd like to do another coffee voyage someday and try several more.

Trivia:

When was coffee banned? Coffee has famously been outlawed five times in the past. The first was in Mecca in 1511. The governor thought it would stimulate radical thinking, and unite his opposition. Which is fair because coffee does bring people together. People were actually making fun of him in the coffee houses. Coffee also got a bad rap at the time because it was used to stay awake at funerals during prayer. Maybe we should try that nowadays. I don’t want to say coffee would make a funeral better, but it’s not like it could get much worse. Speaking of funerals, rumor has it the governor got in trouble for banning coffee without the sultan’s permission and was put to death. Whoops.

So good! I love spices and this was a complex and delicious blend. I made enough to brew it more than once and enjoyed it every time. My favorite so far in this series.

It's definitely interesting but has too much going on. All of the spices make for a very earthy cup of coffee which I am not keen on. 

Join us next week as try cheese coffee. Your eyes do not deceive you. We put cheese in our coffee and attempted to ingest it. Tune in for the ingestion, the digestion, and inevitably the indigestion this Wednesday. It's going to be epic. And maybe kind of gross.

Episode 15 -Black Tea Coffee

Episode 15- Yuanyang (Coffee and Black Tea) This episode was the first we recorded from separate states. For some reason the audio came out badly- You can't hear me at all! We think we can fix it, but in the meantime, here's a rough transcript. It has everything, unfortunately, but the actual tasting. I recall this one was kind of just "OK" not bad not great. Pretty much how you would expect a blend of black tea, coffee, and milk to taste. Didn't hate it but it's not one I'll ever revisit. Organic Pumpkin Pie Coffee and Evaluate Your Life Day! (Episode 61)

Today the 17th, is Evaluate Your Life day. Although it seems daunting it can be very useful. Seems a little scary but if you really put your mind to it and evaluate where you’ve been it makes it easier to make adjustments for your life now. You don’t have to evaluate your whole life either if that seems a bit too much. Perhaps the last year to make things easier. Either way you get a good idea of where you’ve been and where you want to go and to better correct your path to that goal. The recipe: 3-4 Scoops of organic canned Pumpkin Pie Mix (we recommend Farmer's Market brand, it's spiced to perfection.) 2 heaping scoops of coffee for every two cups of water (Kicking Horse "Hola" and bottled spring water work great) 1/3 cup of organic milk
